Cowater is a global company with its headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, and offices in Montreal, London, Brussels, Kenya, New Zealand, and Philippines. Additionally, the company operates project offices worldwide in countries including, among other locations, Barbados, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Jordan, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique Niger, Pakistan, Peru, Senegal, Vietnam, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Somalia, and Zambia.
Our expertise as an organization is captured by the six core themes of Inclusive Growth; Gender Equality and Social Inclusion; Governance, Economic and Trade Systems; Water, Climate and Environment; Public, Financial Management and Accountability; and Sustainable Extractive Industries. These six core themes also represent the firm’s six internal divisions under which projects are designed and managed. Wherever possible, we work to ensure cross-cutting issues such as gender, social inclusion and climate change take a prominent role in each of our projects. Under each of the thematic areas listed are several sub-practice areas of focus.
Cowater delivers projects and assignments for a highly diversified set of clients around the world, including but not limited to bilateral donor agencies such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) New Zealand, Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, UK Department for International Development (DFID), Global Affairs Canada, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Australia, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
Our Cowater International New Zealand Ltd. (formerly FCG ANZDEC Ltd.) office is based in Auckland. New Zealand’s Country Manager, Alastair Brookes, leads a multicultural core professional team specialised in the effective management of sustainable development projects across Asia and the Pacific. Complemented by our close network of specialists, we place heavy importance on cultivating relationships that are personable and rooted in mutual trust, transparency, and connectedness. We encourage shared learning and support strong ownership by partner governments, non-government organisations, communities, and the private sector.
