Global Island Partnership - GLISPA
The Global Island Partnership was an initiative started by the leaders of Seychelles and Palau through an official decision of the Convention on Biodiversity COP which asked for Parties to establish national, sub-regional, regional and international partnerships that bring Governments and civil society organisations together to increase political, financial and technical support to accelerate the implementation of the programme of work on island biodiversity.
Now in 2023 we have become a trusted international partnership adviser working on implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals through GLISPA and through networks that we have helped form including the Local2030 Islands Network, Climate Strong Islands Network and others. We work primarily on biodiversity, climate and SDG implementation through fostering collaboration among our members, strategising on how to engage in international processes and mobilising island political leadership. We work with islands and countries that have islands all over the world.
