Nairobi County and Food4Education have collaborated on an establishing Africa's largest school food programme in Kenya.
According to UNICEF, over a quarter of children in Kenya experience stunting due to extreme malnutrition. The scheme involves putting $8.6 million towards 400,000 daily lunches for children primary schools and early learning centres across the nation, beginning at the start of August.
“We must eliminate the shame of hunger in our country", said William Ruto, the president of Kenya. "The greatest indignity is for our children to go to school and fast because of lack of food.”
