Last week, humanitarian actors from across the globe convened in Geneva to - among other things - discuss the Grand Bargain deal. The Grand Bargain was launched and signed in 2016, and is a commitment between humanitarian organisations and large donors aiming to improve the effectiveness of aid.
Two years ago the agreement was given a 2.0 upgrade, being seen as ineffective in achieving its purpose. However this year’s consolidation of action still identified key areas for improvement. Remaining gaps include a lack of quality funding, as well as a need for increased localisation and participation.
