In Parliament on Thursday, Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters passed a motion regarding the Middle East conflict, urging "all parties involved in the conflict — as well as countries with influence in the region — to take urgent steps towards establishing a ceasefire". This was followed by a debate where the opposition called for a stronger position on the conflict, including "immediate and permanent ceasefire", with a similar sentiment also expressed by Helen Clark.
